Human interest story
By Bronween Bashford
"HMAS Sydney has been found".
Words that thousands of Australians, including myself, thought that they would never hear. But hearing those words this morning, I felt that a circle was starting to close.
In 1995, a year designated for Australia to remember the World War II, I worked on a radio documentary about the sinking of the HMAS Sydney off the coast of Western Australia in 1941.
This was a project that was close to me. My grandfather, John Fuller, was a Warrant Officer on "the Sydney", as it affectionately became known, and for as long as I can remember the Sydney and her fate were talked about in my family.
My grandfather's dress sword was used at family occasions like weddings and christenings. It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship with an etched Wilkinson blade and carved handle. But it was my mother's gift of two photos of my grandfather that started me thinking about the impact the sinking of HMAS Sydney had on the families of those 645 seamen.
My grandmother had to go to work, relying on three young children to keep the house, gardens and to cook as well as doing their schoolwork.
Because HMAS Sydney was based in the city after which she was named, her crew mostly came from NSW and in researching my documentary I met local people like Judith Bennett (whose father was on the ship), naval historians, conspiracy theorists and people who were just attracted to the story of Australia's greatest wartime loss at sea.
Listening back to my documentary today I am still drawn to the raw emotions in the interviews and the huge sadness that 66 years later, the sinking of the HMAS Sydney can still generate emotional stories.
So now they've found HMAS Sydney what next? It will be interesting to witness the examination of the wreck to see what stories she has to tell. But for 645 families today will mean closure can finally begin.

Alphabet story
Among the people at the game was a boy I was the boy. Because I was so short I could not see over all the tall people at the game. Commanding people to get out of the way I pushed and shoved my way to the front. Dumb these people must have been dumb they did not get the hint that i needed through. Enough already I was mad so mad i was about to explode they just would not move.
Finally I made it to the front I could see the game. Going going gone were the first words I heard as the baseball went sailing over the fence. Heavily breathing I screamed with joy as the ball flew over the fence. I was so excited about the home run. Just about as I was about to to scream again the ump called foul ball. Keith the man who hit the home run was very angry as well as all the fans.
Like lighting all the kids ran to get the ball but i got to it first. Michael was right behind me but not
quick enough. Nobody was happy when i got the ball they gave me all dirty looks. Oh but i was really happy cause i got to keep the ball. Phillip was the ump he said they needed the ball back.
Quick like a mouse I ran as fast as i could because i did not want to lose the ball that i worked so hard to get.
Running as fast as i could i made it home with the ball in my hand. So nobody would find it i hid it in my closet under all my shoes. Ten days later i took the ball outside to play with it. Umaga my dog was a big pit bull. Very nervously i threw the ball i did not catch it and it fell to the ground. When it did my dog grabbed it and ran off. Xamining the area hard i never found my ball. You darn dog i said loudly. Zoey my friend found my ball 2 months later and returned it to me.

My dog story
Hi my name is Possum and I am one year old and I have always loved to run. So one day my owner and his dad had to go rope a cow out in the pasture, so we got in the truck and started heading out in the country. When we pullled up i got out and there was all of this open space where i could run and play. So i ran and ran and ran while my owner was saddling his horse, then it was time to go rope the cow. So we started after this giant animal it was so much bigger than me. We ran so much and I was right there behind the horses the whole time.
We ran back and fourth and back and fourth and while doing so we jumped up to rabbits and so i took off after them, but i got in trouble for running off. So then after we got the cow slowed down my owner roped it and lost his dallee and so the cow was free again, then my owners dad finally caught it. He tripped it three times before it stayed down then my owner tied it down. Then we went and got the truck to pick up the cow.
We got the cow in the trailer and it started going crazy and i was barking up a storm from all the racket that was being made. Then we took a break to rest and get a drink, then we finally hauled the beast of an animal to a guys house for him to practice working his horses. He had other dogs there and I chased and ran from those dogs for at least an hour oh man it was so fun, i cant wait to do it again.

Christmas free write.
If i could have one Christmas present it would be a new X box 360 because you can play games and watch movies, and all kinds of other fun stuff. An xbox would keep me busy and hopefully out of trouble. If i had and X Box it would be the greatest thing ever until they came out with a knew gameing system.
